Microsoft ends support for 3 versions of Windows 10 at once
Microsoft has ceased from yesterday, May 11, 2021, support for three versions of the Windows 10 operating system at once.
We are talking primarily about Windows 10 version 1909, a major autumn OS update released by Microsoft in November 2019. Discontinued for consumer OS - Windows 10 Home and Pro.
Enterprise and Education 1909 editions of Enterprise and Education will continue to receive security updates for another year. But ordinary users of Windows 10 Home and Pro versions 1909 yesterday received the latest update as part of the mandatory traditional monthly Patch Tuesday for the Windows 10 operating system.
Also, support has been discontinued for Windows 10 1803 and 1809, major releases in Spring and Fall 2018. Support for consumer versions of this OS ended some time ago, but corporate variations continued to receive updates for now. Now the Enterprise and Education variations of 1803 and 1809 have also reached the end of life. The only exception is the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) through which Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC version 1809 users will continue to receive updates.
According to AdDuplex statistics, as of the end of April 2021, Windows 10 1909 ranks third in prevalence among various versions of the Windows 10 operating system with a share of 11.1%, behind only the most recent Windows 10 2004 and Windows 10 20H2. Simply put, roughly one in 10 Windows 10 PCs in the world runs version 1909.
