The incredible incident occurred at a hospital in Wales.
Unimaginable tragedy: Patient drowned while eating Christmas dinner in hospital
The tragedy reportedly happened as nurses gave 92-year-old James Dingsdale a Brussels sprout at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Wales.
Although the elderly man initially responded to the first aid given to him by the frightened nurses as he suffered a heart attack, then he did not succeed.
Two days after the incident, the 92-year-old left his last breath as his condition deteriorated rapidly.
The autopsy-necropsy of the medical examiner showed that a large piece of Brussels sprout had stuck in his neck.
The 92-year-old was admitted to hospital after a fall in early December.
The investigation that followed the tragic event showed that the elderly man had a history of asthma, diabetes and osteoporosis.
