iOS 14.5 new emojis: Apple has released a new beta of iOS 14.5 that adds new emoji from the Unicode Consortium's Emoji 13.1 release, including skin tone options for some popular emojis, as well as several new emoji and hearts. The company also made some changes to other emojis already available.

In addition to more skin tones, the beard emoji have also been adjusted to accommodate not only the neutral Man with a Beard look, but also the Man with the Beard and the Woman with the Beard.

New emojis from the newest Unicode Consortium emoji set includes Exhaling Face, Face with Spiral Eyes and Face in Clouds. Hearts, another popular emoji category, has been updated with two new options: "Heart on Fire" and "Mending Heart".

All of these emoji were approved by the Unicode Consortium in September, and developers could integrate them into their products and services even then. But the companies themselves determine how emojis will look on their devices and services, so the emoji looks different on iPhone than on Twitter. Companies also decide on their own when they will have new emojis. For example, Pixel smartphone users have had the opportunity to use the new emoji since December last year.

Apple has also tweaked some of the existing emojis: the climbing emoji will now have a helmet, the syringe emoji are now more generic rather than blood-filled, and the headphones look like AirPods Max.

The full release of iOS 14.5 is said to also include several other useful additions, such as support for new Xbox and PlayStation controllers, the ability to select the default Siri music streaming service on Spotify, and the ability to unlock your smartphone with your Apple Watch.
