In the winter of 2019-2020, the snow cover was very low for the season, but two severe bad weather at the end of December 2019 (Zenobia) and early January 2020 ( Hepheastion ) had temporarily increased the snow cover, which is not expected this year. to happen soon. 

In the first week of January 2021, snowfall is forecast at high altitudes, which, however, are not expected to significantly increase snow cover .

Snow cover is an important factor in the weather and climate of an area, as it helps to estimate the occurrence of sudden floods and also provides the necessary amount of water to the groundwater aquifer.
